John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Residency in Nonprofit Law

2024 Resident

Emma Hagle

The second John D. And Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Residency in Nonprofit Law was awarded to Emma Hagle. Emma graduated from New York University School of Law in 2024. While at NYU Law, Emma was an Editor at Large for the Review of Law and Social Change, a research assistant focused on international heat labor regulations, and was extensively involved with the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Clinic. During law school, Emma worked as a legal aide to the New York Attorney General’s Charities Bureau Office, ACLU National’s Immigrants’ Rights Project, and the Eastern District of New York’s Mediation Department. Emma graduated summa cum laude from Scripps College with a B.A. in Middle East and North Africa Studies and a minor in Medical Anthropology. Before attending NYU Law, Emma worked extensively with refugee resettlement nonprofits in Texas, California, Italy, and Jordan.

2023 Resident

Allison Daze

The first John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Residency in Nonprofit Law was awarded to Allison Daze. Allison is a 2023 graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law where she was a part of the Honors Scholars program and served as the President of the American Constitution Society. Allison has worked as a law clerk at the Chicago Housing Authority. While at Kent, Allison assisted with oral argument preparation for a case representing Standing Rock NoDAPL protestors seeking to stop the construction of the Dakota Access pipeline, and also researched the impact of climate change on affordable housing policy. Prior to law school, worked as Director Communications at The Sports Shed, and before that as the Fund Development Manager for By the Hand Club for Kids, both Chicago-land nonprofits. Allison graduated magna cum laude, from Wheaton College with a B.A. in English and a certificate in Urban Studies.
